A Tale of Two Sports!

We just received copies of these two photos which appear to show a team of our colleagues on an overseas trip during which they appear to have taken part in two sports.  We would like to know where and when was the trip, who attended, what were the two sports, and we wonder if anyone can tell us the results of the either although one may have been calamitous!

I'm fairly certain that the top boxing photo was against the Massachusetts State Troopers in Worcester, MA. I went on that trip purely as a spectator and for the fun. Ian and I took the train down to NYC after the event. About 1985.

Nigel Brock
I would agree that if it was to Denver it would have been in 1985 and could have been May time.

Brian James Russell
Guessing around 1985/86?

That sounds right Brian. Russ Matthews, Pete Morgan, Nigel Brock, Dave Arrowsmith and myself all joined September 1984. I'd lean towards 1986 for this event.

Tim Roper
2 great colleagues sadly no longer with us in the top photo - RIP Pete and Ian - taken far too young

Michael Rhodes
Spot on Craig. We had a day out skiing @ Loveland, CO

Definitely no later than December 1985 as Dave Arrowsmith, er, departed Bermuda then.

The top pic is obviously of a boxing team that either fought against the Mass State Troopers or Denver PD: I don't think we had any other boxing opponents.
Front from L:- ?, Ian Matthews, Glyn Jones, ?, Rai Harrison.
Back from L:- Mike Lawler, Pete Morgan, Nick Jamieson, Nigel Brock, ?, Gary Smith.
Extreme back:- ?.
Bottom pic:- no idea, but obviously ski-ing somewhere!

Davie Kerr Front row far left is Russ Matthews. Between Glyn Jones and Rai Harrison is Dave Arrowsmith. Extreme rear is Dick Parker. The ski pic shows that this was a boxing tour to Denver - this would have been the second half of the 1980's and a tour that I was not selected for because I has badly sprained an ankle whilst chasing a suspect crew member down the steps of the dock to the Nordic Prince cruise ship. In the 'ski photo', it looks like Mick Rhodes at far left and Mark Bothelho to the right of Dick Parker (both probably there as spectators).

Thanks Craig: I'll take your word for it!
