Young P.C. John NapierWe have just heard the sad news that our good friend and former colleague, John Napier, passed away on Thursday 22nd October 2026.
Prior to joining the Bermuda Police from 1965 – 1968 John had served for 4 years in the Lothians and Peebles Constabulary in Scotland. During his time here John worked in Central Division and was a very popular and highly competant officer. Upon leaving Bermuda, John returned to Scotland where he earned a law degree and built a 26 career as a prosecuting counsel with the Procurator Fiscal Service before retiring in 2002 after which he lived in Musselburgh, near Edinburgh.
Although we lost touch with him in recent years, John attended two of our Ex-Bermuda Police reunions held in the UK – the first in York in 1983, and the second in Edinburgh in 1986, both of which are featured on our ExPo website.
We learned of John’s passing through a message on Facebook written by his daughter Susan, and we send our sincere condolences to Susan and to their family. We may still have several of his former Bermuda Police colleagues now settled in Scotland and will try to obtain funeral details in case any of our ExPo mebers may be able to attend.
