We have just received the sad news that former P.C. Raymond Bingham Hackett, who served here in the Bermuda Police from May 1961 – August 1964, died peacefully on 19th May 2026 in the UK at the age of 94, as reported in the Daily Telegraph.  

Raymond served in the British Army from 1950 -1952 and later in the British South Africa Police from 1957  - 1961 prior to joining the Bermuda Police where he was first posted to Central Division, Hamilton, and then to Prosecutions during which time he was studying for a law degree.  He resigned in Augist 1964 and returned to England. 

The Telegraph report indicated that Raymond earned his BA, BSc LLB, and became a Solicitor.  

We offer our sincere condolences to his wife Alison, his brother Morley, and his family and friends.  There will be a private funeral.
