We are deeply saddened to report on the passing of our good friend and former colleague, Ian Matthews, who died  on Sunday 27th April following a protracted illness.

Ian joined the Bermuda Police in June 1984 having previously served in the West Yorkshire Police in Leeds prior to arriving in Bermuda where he spent most of his time in Western Division (Somerset) .

Ian was a  very popular young man with a wide circle of friends, including Neal Richardson and John Jones who also served with him in Western Division, and the three retained their close friendship after leaving Bermuda.  Ian completed 5 years service on Island before returning to England where he re-joined the West Yorkshire Police, and after retirement there he continued in a civilian capacity  working on cold cases.
