Robert “Bob” Anthony
 

We are deeply saddened to report that we have just heard of the passing of our old friend and colleague, former P.C. Augustine Robert “Bob” Anthony, in Brooklyn, New York, on Friday 18th October 2024.

“Bob” was born in River Sallee, St. Patrick, Grenada in 1951.  He joined the Bermuda Police on 1st March 1975  and attended Basic Training Course #19 from March – June 1975  following which he was first posted to Central Division (Hamilton) where he served for almost 4 years before being transferred to Central Parishes. He was Devonshire Parish Constable from 1979 –  December 1982, at which time he transferred to Eastern Division where he  served as Hamilton Parish Constable until 1984.  He was in Eastern Uniform (St. George’s) when he resigned in March 1985.

Bob married his lovely wife Roslyn (nee George) of St. Vincent on 28th June 1980.  Roslyn was the sister of former P.C. Hensley George who served here in the Bermuda Police  from 1976-1981.

After leaving the BPS Bob attended Sir Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad where he earned his law degree and qualifed as a barrister.  He was subsequently appointed as legal advisor of the Royal Grenada Police Force.

Bob and Roslyn moved to the U.S. where Bob passed the New York Bar exams and has been practicing law there (except for a stint here in Bermuda for some 3 years in the early 2000's as legal adviser to the Human Rights Commission) until his untimely passing.   

Bob was a popular and well-liked member of the BPS during his 10 years service.  He played both cricket and football for our Police teams and was also an active member of the Police Choir.
