This photograph is also featured in our "Then and Now" article about former P.C. Ron Mullan who is wearing the dressing gown. (see article at http://expobermuda.com/index.php/tan/613-ron-mullan )

We know it was taken on the verandah of the Police Barracks in St. George's, but we are not sure of the indentities of several of the men in the photo.  Can you assist?

I lived in that Mess from Aug 62 to May 64 (and was Mess Caterer during the later months) I don't recognize any of the guys in the photo .... except that the guy in the back with his arms around others reminds me of Bob "The animal" Tanner but he was busted out of St Georges, following the incident at Christmas, with the Station Police car. Thus I am uncertain cos those all those guys don't look anyone I remember ?Editors note - I'm sure this was definitely taken on the balcony at St. George's Police barracks. Ww have three people identified so far. They are Ron Mullan who submitted the photo to us and served in the Bermuda Police from 1960-1963, Jeff Sanders who also joined in 1960 and served until 1984, and Brinley "Brin" Jones who served from 1956 - 1977 and whose record indicates he worked in Eastern CID from 15th August 1960 - 1st November 1963. I'm also quite sure, knowing Brin Jones, that he would have frequented the Police Club while posted to Eastern CID.Good to hear from you John. Those were the days!

Could it possibly be Del Trott?Editors note - I don't think so Davie because Del joined the Force a couple of months after me, in July 1964, and I donlt think he was a Cadet. Most of these guys had left by the time I arrived.

Detz Freddy Alboys Point.....Editors note - Ya got me again Terry. I have almost no idea what you are saying in this point! If, by any chance, you are suggesting that one of the men in this photo might be Freddie Aubrey, I can report having contacted Freddie directly shortly after receiving the photo. He reports that the young man 4th from the left standing is a local guy who was living on Radnor Road, Shelley Bay, but Freddie cannot recall his name. Would anyone else have any odea who it might be?
Well my friend with all respect I am sure he was local and is such.As for not knowing what I am saying well that's your problem> Freddy Aubrey /Alboys.. . Once again my dry old humor is not interpreted or ridiculed. All good.Shalom.Many thanks for clearing up what you meant by your comment Terry! Glad to hear it was "dry old humor". As stated, I had already checked with Freddie Aubrey about the possible identity of the young man in question. I would like to think that we will be able to confirm who he is.

Brinley on the left and Geoff Sanders on the bottom right. The two black guys I have a feeling I know.Editors note - Mike Cherry and Terry and both in agreement re Brinley and Jeff Saunders. I believe that the young black guy kneeling may have been at the Senior Training School, but the guy standing was a young constable who we should be able to identify.
