Welcome to our BPS Magazine Catalog.   This catalog provides easy access to our collection of Police Magazines dating from 1955 – 1994, together with the illustrated book published in 2014 entitled “135 Years of Service History”.

If you scroll down you can see the front cover of each magazine in chronological order.

Instructions for examining a magazine:-

• Scroll down to the issue you wish to open and Click on it;
• You will see a pale blue rectangle across your screen and in the middle the words “Flippingbook is Loading”;
• This might take 30 seconds or more to open and you will then see a small image of the magazine;
• Click on the X immediately below the magazine image with arrow heads at each corner. This will expand the size of the magazine front cover;
• You can then use the <    > signs on either side of the pages to flip them over either forwards or backwards;
• You can also use the + or – signs in magnifying glass icons below the pages to expand or reduce the page size;
• When you want to stop reading the magazine DO NOT PANIC!  Just click on the X sign again and it will reduce the size of the pages so you can exit the programme or go to the next magazine.
• Your computer may enable you to take screen shots of any page. On most systems you press Shift, Command, and 4 simultaneously, which produces an icon you can manouvre around the screen to scan any part of the screen.

Unfortunately, we are not able to use our regular “Search Engine” to search through every word in each magazine. But we have provided a BPS Magazine Index which provides a chronological list of magazines starting with 1955 December, and a list of the articles in each issue together with the page number of the article and a brief description of its contents. For example,  if you scroll down to the 1955 December issue, the last article listed is “Sports” on page 70 and its contents are described as “Soccer, cricket, snooker and billiards summaries”.

When you find an article you wish to examine in a particular magazine you will need to click on the Year/Issue which is highlighted in blue on the first line of that issue e.g. 1955 December
