Passing of Brinley "Brin" Jones

Detective Sergeant Brinley "Brin" Jones

We are saddened to report the passing of former D/Sergeant Brinley "Brin" Jones after a long illness.   Brin joined the Bermuda Police in 1956 after serving in the Metropolitan Police and in the British Army where he was a former boxing champion.  Brin spent several years in Uniform before his transfer to CIC where he served in Central CID and both Eastern and Western CID after which he worked in Prospecutions for many years before retirement.

There are some great Bermuda Police characters in this photo.  How many can you recognize?

Brin will always be remembered for his participation in the Police Boxing Section where he used his past experience as a former professional boxer to provide his services as an excellent referee.

After retirement from the Police he worked in the Royal Gazette archives and continued to reside in Bermuda at his home near the Arboretum.

We offer our sincere condolences to his daughter Rosemary, son Robert, and their children.
