Passing of John Wild in UK

26th July 2014

We have just received an email from former P.C. Tony "Bumper" Laughton advising us of the death of John Wild in the UK:-

I very much regret to inform you that John Wild, ex-Bermuda Police Service, died in the early hours of today, 25th July, 2014.  I received the sad news from his daughter Becky.  John had been ill with cancer for the past few months.  I worked closely with him on MCPS in the 1976-80 era.

After leaving Bermuda, John and his family ran a small village shop and Post Office in Norley, just east of Chester.  I had kept in touch with him and last him about 2 years ago.

While I am on, may I please forward my deepest sympathies to Roger Brydon and his family over the tragic passing of  Liz.  I was on the same intake as Roger, joining in May 1973.  I always thought of Roger as a 'top man' and remember he and Liz from the outset.  Roger, manning the Operations Room radio, literally held the Force together during the worst days of the riots in the mid 70's. I'm so sorry.

My best wishes and kindest regards to all.....   Tony Laughton.  ex PC 410,  'Bumper'.

P.C. John Wild

Editors note  -   Roger and Liz were divorced several years ago
