Wanted -  Former P.C. 292 John Jones

We are seeking information about the present whereabouts of former P.C. John “Jonesey” Jones who joined the Bermuda Police in October 1982 and served until September 1989 before leaving Bermuda and heading to Hong Kong.

John served in the West Mercia Police prior to coming out to Bermuda, and the West Mercia Police have received an appeal for information about John from his former Regiment which is planning a reunion and want to invite him to their celebrations.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a photo of John but Alan Gorbutt, who came out with him and 8 other guys in the same intake, remembers him as quite a character and an entertaining boxer who competed in several of the Police Boxing Nights at the Southampton Princess.  Alan also recalls John’s “Regimental handlebar moustache and his Victorian “fist-up” stance? 

We believe that John went out to Hong Kong and married a local girl there and that he was teaching.
