We just received this photo of a group of our recruits who arrived here in 1980, all of whom had previous experience as police officers in the UK.

Our former ExPo President, Steve Taylor, sent us the photo which was taken on 18th Aoril in the private bar of The Ship & Mitre Pub, on Dale Street in Liverpool City Centre.  We wonder how many faces you can recognize before looking at the caption below.

Happy Reunion at The Ship & Mitre Pub, Liverpool 2017
(l-r standing) - Don Urquhart, Keith Senior, Nigel Brock, Tim Stuckes,
Mike Lawler, Pete Mead, Martyn Davidson, Brian Russell,
Mark Richardson, Stuart Mason
Kneeling  - Glyn Brown, Kev Buxton, Steve Taylor, Bill Webster, John Clayton

Missing from the photo is Tim Winkelman who went for a "walkabout" just before the photo was taken.

Steve reports that a good time was had by all and he sends our ExPo Committee and Members all the very best of health and happiness and stay in touch....stay safe.....Steve Taylor.

Editors note  -  We wonder how many of our readers can recall which Police Forces these officers served in prior to arriving in  Bermuda.  We would also be pleased to post any information about them such as what they did after leaving Bermuda plus where they are and what they're doing these days.

What a great photo and trip down memory lane. I joined the BPS with a large number of this group. So good to see them and wishing I had been invited too! That's probably because no one has my contact details. lol Please, will someone let me know if any such event is planned in the future??Editors note - Very pleased to hear from you Bob. I will make sure to add your name to our contact list, and to also add it to the "List of Colleagues" on our ExPo website for whom we have contact details.Could you please let me have just a few lines about when you served here, where you were posted while here, maybe mention some of your close mates, and also where you went after leaving here, brief details of family, where you are threse days and what you're doing. It would also be very useful if you could send a fairly recent photo of you, perhaps with wife or family, that we could post in our "Keeping in Touch" column.

With all due respect, John, I doubt if you would know any of them as they didn't arrive until about 10 years after you left!

I was there during the 60's and I don't know one of them! I wonder how many have passed through the portals since say, !955?Good question John. I just did a quick check on my unofficial list which is as accurate as any, and I counted 2211 recruits joining the Bermuda Police between 1955 and September 2003, the latter being the last date for which I have records.

I have vivid memories of Kev Buxton riding his motorbike round the corridors of McBeath Block at Prospect in Summer 1985 - had to look both ways before leaving my room for a shower!Keep on keeping on, Kev ;-)Editors note - Great to hear from you Chris. I know we've had increased congestion on Bermuda's road for a while but never realized it extended to McBeath Block!

And I remember Glyn telling me that he'd been a Nottingham Cadet along with two other blokes who, with all due respect, became a bit more famous than he did: one was the former Liverpool and Coventry City goalkeeper Steve Ogrizovic, and the other was Olympic skater Christopher Dean!

I think I'd have recognised most of them, with the possible exceptions of Nigel, Tim, Martyn and Stuart.Nice collection of rookies!

Strictly speaking i was a 1977 recruit, having served three years in the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC), but I wasnt going to miss a great afternoon, well organised by Steve Taylor. I have been living in Australia since leaving Bermuda in 1982. I am currently in the UK on a visit. It was a great afternoon and I met some great guys. Glyn Brown reminded me that I arranged his first house sit, at Spanish Grange!
