Lawrence "Mincy" Rawlins
 

We are deeply saddened to report the passing of our old friend and colleague Lawrence “Mincy” Rawlins.  “Mincy” passed away peacefully at his home in Somerset on Wednesday 29th July with his loving family around him. 

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Ros, their daughters Lauren and Lisa, and all their family. 

“Mincy” joined the Police Force in May 1960, and served in Hamilton, Beach Squad, Operations (Traffic), and for many years in Western Division where he was born and raised. He retired after 25 years service in May 1985.

The funeral for Lawrence “Mincy” Rawlins was held at a packed St James’ Church in Sandys on Monday morning August 10th.  It was very well attended  by his family and friends, including many retired and former police officers.

Mincy had been ill for several years and made the decision a few months ago to not have any more treatment  (radiation etc) so his passing was expected, Typical of Mincy he was cheerful to the end and he left specific instructions about the funeral service which was a very positive from beginning to end.

The Police Service was well represented with Supt.  Martin Weekes, Chief Inspector Calvin Smith, Inspectors Troy Glasgow and Mark Clarke, along with D.C. Trrent Lightbourne in attendance.
