We recently received this photo of a group of young men heading abroad to some sort of gathering.  We thought just for a mili-second that they might be some kind of sports team but then we looked closely at the "team" and realized this was completely out of the question although we hear rumours that two of the guys were passed off as "British Champions" of a particular indoor sport during their trip.

We would like to know if you can help us identify all 20 of these smartly dressed young men, and tell us when the photo was taken, where they were all headed, and what was the reason for their trip?  One final sobering question -  how many are no longer with us.

We've provided you with a couple of blow-ups for those with vision problems!

On reflection I think Chris Moyse is also no longer with us, so that makes 7...Editors note - Apologies Davie. I meant to mention that Chris died a couple of years ago.

On the subject of how many are no longer with us, I count at least 6: Brian, Bloggy, Mike, Stumpy, Willie and Buster, and the could easily be more of whom I'm unaware...

Could the CM be The Shah, Chris Moyse? It doesn’t look much like him but that is the only name that matches the initials. Was it a darts tour?Editors note - Hi Phil, It was actually an IPA tour organized by Dave Barber, but they had some darts games including one described by Coco when he and Jimmy "The Wap", unbekown to them, were billed as English Champions!I'm almost certain that the last man to be Identified is Chris Moyse because I have a much larger print than the website can produce but will check with DG to see if he can remember if Chris was on this trip.
Chris Moyse is not in this/these photo's.Editors note - Chris Moyse is definitely in this photo. He is standing just to the right of Mike Parris and Ray Bell, and is looking to our left. I was almost certain it was him, but double checked with the person who submitted the photo to us, Wayne Robinson, and he confirmed that it is definitely Chris, who sadly, is no longer with us. Also double checked with Dave Barber who organized the tour and he has since confirmed that Chris was on the tour.

I know that IPA stands for International Police Association, but looking at that motley crew I think International Piss-heads Association might be more appropriate! If that IS Pat O'Riordan, I know he was Irish and had the "gift of the gab", but how on earth did he managed to wangle his way onto an IPA tour?Editors note - I didn't remember seeing Pat O'Rioran in this photo and hadn't noticed that Phil thought it might be him. I don't think it is, but it's another Irishman by the name of Willie McCracken!

IPA visit to new York November 1973.Editors note - Many thanks Wayne for providing us with not only the event and the year when it was taken - but also for kindly providing us with the photo in the first place. You have also, of course, identified yourself as one of the two missing names. To be honest, you didn't look old enough to be a policeman then, or to be carrying booze!!

I'll give it a go, from the left:Pete Counsell, Steve Rollin, ?, Brian Malpas, James Patrick Costello, Peter Blogg, Ray Bell, Mike Parris, ?, Howard 'Stumpy' Kirkham, Dave Smith, Angus Brown, Rex Osbourne (?), John 'Coco' Eve, Pat O'Riordan, Reginald 'Buster' Brown, Roger Brydon ?, Mike Jent, Steve Shaw, Dave Barber.I believe that there are five who are no longer with us. Obviously this may not be accurate as there two who I have no idea as to their identity and two who I am not sure about.Editors note - Well done Phil. You're close to full marks! I'm sure you're right about Rex Osborne and Roger Brydon. The fresh-faced young man between Steve Rollin and Brian Malpas is the person who sent me this photo quite recently, and as a hint his initials are WR. I'm not 100% sure about the guy between Mike Parris and "Stumpy" Kirkham but his initials I believe are CM. Anyone hazrad a guess about these last two?
