This is definitely a "Bunch of Bruisers" although a few in the group look like they would be fairly easy to bruise!

We have only just come into possession of the photo today (9th May 2025), and two of the group are featured in our latest "Keeping in Touch" article published on 8th May 2025.

What we need to know about this photo is where it was taken (easy!), who are they, what do they all share in common, where and when they were headed when the photo was taken, and finally, what was the end result of their trip?

In order to make it easier for those with"eye sight issues" we are adding a couple of enlargements for ease of recognition!

Unfortunately, our website comments issues have not yet been resolved so here are the comments we have received about the above photo on our ExPo Facebook post of the same photo.  As usual we eventually received all of the correct information from our good friend Davie Kerr as you can read below:-

This photo was a couple of years before my time, but perhaps readers might be interested in this post that I wrote a few years ago. It details activities of the Police Boxing Team between 1984 and 2007. It includes several video clips of boxing action, as well as newspaper clippings. https://bermudarover.wordpress.com/.../my-bermuda-boxing.../

EDITORS NOTE -  The above link contains extensive information, photos and videos kindly written by Craig Morfitt who was a very active member of the Boxing Group for many years.

My lovely step dad Cyril Plant, front row second from the right. Graham Alderson, middle row on the right. I’ll take shot on Stumpy Kirkham back row on the left?? Could be wrong though. Boxing tour, states, mid 80’s?

Jim Gordyk says possibly Boston trip and we won .

Yet again, our good friend Davie proves he has a superb memory and has successfully named everyone in this photo of the Police Boxing Team and entourage heading to the US on a boxing tour. A slight issue is whether it was taken just before their trip to Boston or to Denver. Dick Parker is the person who kindly sent us the photo and he leans towards it being just before their inaugural trip to Denver. He is sure it was taken in 1982. an Coyles who was on this trip says it was definitely  taken before the Denver trip. One thing for sure, our Police Boxing Section was very well organized by their committee, and the boxers gave it their all wherever they fought, whether it was overseas or here in Bermuda. The "Annual Evening of Boxing" was for many years one of the sporting events of the year.
