We are saddened to report the death of former P.C. Kevin Hardisty in the UK yesterday 20th November 2016 (St. Andrews Day).
Kevin had served in the Dumfries and Galloway Police as a Cadet, in the Royal Military Police, and in the Cumbria Constabulary prior to joining the Bermuda Police in September 1984. While in Bermuda he served in Central (Uniforn), Western (Uniform), in Central CID, and in Operations.
In 1989 he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had successful treatment but his contract was terminated on the grounds of disability. Kevin left the BPS in December 1989 and returned to the UK, where he always had difficulties finding permanent employment because of his disability, but in later years he took to writing novels (see more details in our Keeping in Touch column dated15th August 2014 at http://expobermuda.com/index.php/keep-in-touch/237-latestnews2014
Kevin last visited Bermuda on vacation in late August 2014 and met up with many of his old friends from his days here.
We understand that he had been in failing health recently but had been very well looked after by his partner Mala Ram. He passed away peacefully on 30th November.
We send our sincere condolences to Mala and Kevin’s family in the UK, and will post details of funeral arrangements as we receive them.

Editors note - Mala has written to advise that the funeral service for Kevin will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday 7th December at Rucan Loch Cemetery near Dumfries and she attached the following link to the peaceful surroundings at Roucan Loch - http://www.roucanlochcrematorium.co.uk/
Kevin chose a local Tri Club for children as his preferred charity for donations, as triathlons and marathons was something he was passionate about, and wished to see younger people get behind this sport.
