Hacker Warning

WARNING ABOUT HACKERS  -   We recently received an email purporting to come from one of our ExPo colleagues with a very suspicious message reading as follows:-

"Hi,
Please, could you be reachable by email for a minute?
I have a chest infection, a cough from hell and feel ill,
lucky I already have a Dr appointment on Friday.
I want you to look into a request for me.
Kind regards."

The senders email address appeared to be correct but there was no way the message would have been sent by our colleague. Fortunately we were able to find a contact email address for someone connected with our colleague, and wrote about our suspicions. Sure enough, our friends email had been hacked, and others in his address list no doubt received the same messages.

This is not the first time one of our colleagues has been hacked.  In a previous hack we received an appeal for a cash loan.

The purpose of this message is to let all of our members know about the potential of being hacked, and to suggest that you make sure to have a good password and take advice about installing an effective antivirus app to detect and remove malware.
