The Royal Gazette reported on 18th March 2024, that the ranks of the Bermuda Police Service have been boosted by 14 new officers after they successfully completed a recruit foundation course. CLICK HERE for the article.
The recruits were sworn in by Darrin Simons, the Commissioner of Police, at a ceremony at police headquarters last week.
But the force is still well below full strength. Earlier this month, Michael Weeks, the Minister of National Security, said that manpower levels were at their lowestin 30 years.
Last year, 19 officers left the service, and although the BPS received more than 100 applications, only nine made it into the training course. The majority of applicants failed health and fitness or psychological tests.
