The Boys in Blue  - in black ties!

It's not often you see a bunch of Bermuda Police Officers dressed as nattily as this,  but we suspected that just about everyone would figure out the occasion, but we wanted you to tell us the year,  the venue (inside or outside) and more important,  could you identify everyone in the photograph?  If you really want to impress us try  you could have tried to list who won and who lost this night.   To assist you in identifying everyone we  divided the photo into two halves (see below) and blew them up to the maximum size we can fit on the website.    Good grief. These guys look so YOUNG!  Below we have now compiled a list of all those we can identify, with just a couple of doubtfuls!

The Boys in Blue -  in black ties!

As you will see,  there are still a couple of guys who have either not been identified or that we have doubts about.  If you can assist further please do so in the Comments column below.

Good times..... and I still have a perfect boxing record :D 1-0. Even have the program from that event!

Editors note - Great to hear from you Rod. Could you please check your programme and let us have the date and also the names of the two guys who are not yet identified in this photo?

I have added you to our List of Colleagues (for whom we have contact details). Any chance you could send us a few lines for our "Keeping in Touch" column telling us what you did and where you went after leaving Bermuda, and also where you are and what you are doing these days (and send us a recent photo).

That's not Stene Rollin. It's Stephen Rollin blocked out by Wilbur MacLean. I lost that night to Roddy Fowkes.

Editors note - Apologies for the spelling error Steve. Correction made. Can you assist us with the other two boxers who have not yet been identified? Would you still have a programme from that night?

I know that is me on the back row holding the shield for the only knock out of the opponent was Graham Waring (Sadly now deceased)- standing on far right!

In photo #2, listed as unknown, back row left, surely that is Bill Butterworth!

Davie, I will defer to your well regarded memory and sporting experience, though I was sure that it was Vic just behinf a young Frankie Foggo, to Frankie's left, take care, talk soon DU

Don, do you mean the guy with the black hair & black tash? Sorry, that's definitely Kevin Brennan: we worked together in Traffic, and played in the football team together. No, Pete Shaw's nowhere in that photo. Neither is Vic Richmond, I'm afraid: the two guys behind Steve Taylor are Steve Rollin (face partly hidden, but 99% sure) and Brian Anderson (100% sure).

Hi Davie, I think Pete Shaw is in the middle photo, back row, fourth in from the left, he was such a bean pole, but I could be wrong, too much good Australian red! Don U 8)

Don, with all due respect, which one do you think is Pete Shaw? Apart from as a spectator, I don't think he was ever involved in the boxing!

OK, here we go again! Half-pic 1:- Extreme back from L:- Kevin Brennan, possibly Keith Cassidy?: next row from L:- Jim McInnes, Davie Kerr's head, Rod Fowkes, possibly Chris Sykes?: front row standers from L:- Terry Lee, Norman Ingemann, Bruce Stuart, Kim Ingemann: front row kneelers from L:- the one and only Crock, Jerome Simons, Ralph Lindo, Ralph Saints, Leon Fubler. Half-pic 2:- standing from L:- unknown, Andy Lavery, Frankie Foggo, Mike Brown, Willie Mclean, possibly Steve Rollin?, Steve Taylor, Brian Anderson, Howard D'Oliveira, Graham "Elvis" Waring: kneeling from L:- Bob Connolly (civvy trainer), Andy Hall, Stumpy Kirkham, Spider Mackenzie. The 3 "possiblys" are the only 3 names I can find who boxed on the '71 card who I haven't definitely ID'd, hence my choice of names for them: the only one I'm doubtful about is the one I've called Chris Sykes, whom I don't remember looking like that at all!

Middle photo, Custerfield Crockwell, lower left, with a young Ralph Lindo in the middle, the only others I can get are Davie Kerr and Kim Ingemann, with I think Pete Shaw lingering suspiciously at teh back. :D
