We are deeply saddened to hear that our good friend and former colleague, retired Deputy Commissioner Alex Forbes, passed away yesterday, 9th December 2016, following a serious illness.

Alex was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, and joined the Bermuda Police in September 1963.  He served in Central Division, Operations (Traffic) and in 'E' Department, and as he rose through the ranks he was transferred to Police Headquarters in both 'A' Department and 'B' Department and was serving as Deputy Commissioner at the time of his retirement in November 1995.  An active sportsman Alex was a stalwart in our Police rugby team where he played as hooker, and despite being a Scotsman he also used to turn out for our Police cricket teams.

We extend our sincere condolences to Alex' wife Valerie, their two children, Amanda and Grant, and to all of their family.
