UPDATE ON THE PASSING OF TOM GALLAGHER

It was with great sadness that we reported that our old friend Tom Gallagher had passed away in Ireland after a long illness.  Tom will be fondly remembered by all those who knew him, especially during his days as an outstanding member of the Police Rugby Team.  If anyone deserves the accolade of being an "Honorary Bermuda Police Officer" it is Tom.  We sent our sincere condolences to his wife Helen.

We have just heard from Helen who has been overwhelmed with all the emails and phone calls from their many friends, but she took the time to let us know some details of the funeral etc. It will be held this Friday 18th January.

Tom will be cremated at Roselawn Cemetery with just family there, and afterwards there will be a service at the church just a stones throw from their home. People are attending the service from far and wide and John Price will be saying a few words on behalf of the greater rugby circle.

Helen will be doing the eulogy herself which, as she says, is the hardest thing trying to condense Tom’s very full life and all their memories, but she wants to do so in her own way for the man who has always been the love of her life.

Helen is also going to plan a memorial service here in Bermuda so that all his friends here can acknowledge how Tom’s life touched so many people in so many ways.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Helen and her family at this very difficult time.
