Ian Morrison

We are deeply saddened to report  we have just heard that our good friend and former colleague, retired Assistant Commissioner Ian Morrison passed away over the weekend here in Bermuda.

Born and raised in Glasgow, Ian served in the Glasgow City Police prior to joining the Bermuda Police in July 1953. He spent most of his police career in Special Branch where he was one of the original 4 officers who set up the department in 1961.  Ian retired from the BPS in November 1981 after rising through the ranks to Acting Deputy Commissioner at the time of his retirement.

We offer our sincere condolences to Ian’s children Ernest and Tina and their family. As per Ian's wishes we understand that a private interment service will take place and a celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Hospice - www.friendsofhospice.bm  Condolences may be sent to bgfunerals@gamil.com or shared va the Royal Gazette Legacy page.
