Young P.C. Connell McBurnie

We reported earlier in the year, (see Keeping in Touch on 21st February 2015) that former P.C. William Connell McBurnie, who had settled in Staffordville in Ontario after serving in the Bermuda Police from 1961 - 1965  had been diagnosed with a serious liver-related cancer requiring major surgery.  We later heard that Connell's operation was succcessful and that he was making a good recovery.

Sadly,  we heard last week that his cancer has returned and spread, and that it is inoperable. Connell decided not to undergo any further radiation or chemotherapy.  When I spoke with him last week on Skype he was resting comfortably at home under the care of his wife Janice, and daughter Margo.  We have since heard from Margo that "Mack" had to be re-admitted to hospital 2 days ago, and that things are not going well.   Margo was assured that Connell will be in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
