1989 October Bermuda's mounted police 11 In 1929, P.C. John Galloway became Bermuda's first and only mounted policeman when he was provided with a horse for use in patrolling the Tuckers Town area during the Mid Ocean Clube development. It's not recorded why the police never continued to use horses.
1989 October Bermuda's First Detective 12 P.C. Charles Edwards joined the Police Force as a Rural constable in Warwick in 1905 and quickly established a reputation as a highly efficient, resourceful police officer. He was appointed Bermuda's first detective in 1919.
