Today's Royal Gazette  (14th April 2020) is reporting an incident last night which has resulted in four police officers having to be quarantined after they were “deliberately coughed on” during an arrest.

Stephen Corbishley, the Commissioner of Police, said in a video on social media today that the incident happened last night.

He said: “Four police officers involved in the arrest and transportation of an individual back to Hamilton Police Station were deliberately coughed on by the person, who announced that he had coronavirus.

“We don’t know if that’s the case, but the impact of this is so serious we have had to quarantine the four officers while we establish the facts.  CLICK HERE for the full report.
